Visitor Restriction for Hamilton Medical Center during FLU season

Published January 15, 2018 by

Dear Patient,

At Hamilton, we recognize the importance of the support of family and friends in a patient’s recovery. However, due to the widespread occurrence of influenza (flu) in Georgia and in our local community, we must carefully weigh the benefits of open visitation during this time with the risk of exposure to germs for our patients. Because of this, we are asking for your assistance by supporting your loved one’s recovery in a different way – limited visitation during this flu season. We know this is a difficult thing to ask and we want to assure everyone that the new guidelines below are only for the duration of the flu season.

Flu Season Restrictions:

No visitors with influenza-like illness, fever, cough, or runny nose.

Only essential visitors ages 18 or older (immediate family, partner, or significant other).

Patients experiencing flu-like symptoms will also need to wear a mask.

As always, if you would like to drop off a card, gift, or other message of encouragement, we are happy to deliver those to patients’ rooms for you. You may, of course, call patients’ rooms as well so they can hear your voice, and so that you can hear in their voice how they are doing.

To reach a patient room, simply dial the local prefix and the room number (706-217- ####).

We appreciate your understanding during this time and we want to emphasize that this limited visitation is temporary and is solely for the well-being of our patients. We will return to our open visitation policy as soon as it is safe for our patients.
